Breast Cancer Awareness Meeting Supports Walk for Leann!

Our October 3rd luncheon and general meeting featured Susan Svobada, author of "I Hate the Color Pink" who delivered an uplifting talk about her personal journey with breast cancer that was honest, informative, touching and funny. Members and others are donating to Susan G. Komen's' fund for Metastatic Cancer Research in honor of our member Leann Rodowicz who has embarked on a very challenging journey of her own. DPWC is matching donations up to $3,000 and we are already there!

Our 1st Vice President, Judy Amiano will be walking the entire 3-day, 60-mile Susan G. Komen "More than Pink" walk in Leann's honor. We will be accepting donations until the walk, which takes place on November 1-3 in San Diego. Please email Judy if you'd like to participate in the walk or come out to cheer! Click HERE to make a tax deductible donation, noting "Walk for Leann" in the field for donation purpose. Read more about the meeting HERE.

8th Annual Chili Cook Off!

Our 8th Annual Chili Cook Off was a warm and wonderful event enjoyed by DPWC members, friends and family.

The assembled guests were treated to delicious chilis along with all the fixings generously donated by our members. Raffles and Silent Auction prizes, plus excellent entertainment by Bob Hamilton, and a hot dog grill station and bar managed by the intrepid Bob Lee kept everyone entertained and engaged. Thank you to all our members, friends and local merchants who contributed to a great event, and especially to our Ways & Means Chair, Marla Freeman and her team, including Andrea Gordon and Maryellen Marsh who managed a very smooth auction process. It was a great night that raised close to $5,000 for our philanthropies! Read more HERE.

Do Tell Storytellers Wow a Full House

orporate

DPWC was privileged to host Barron Harley's 5th annual Do Tell storytelling event. It was a great success and a wonderful opportunity to showcase our upgraded great room and share it with the community, while raising $2000 for Project FAM (Family Assistance Ministries Food Bank.)

Barron Harley, founder of the Do Tell Storytelling event said it best: This was our highest donation in the 5 years of Do Tell's existence. Some attendees report that it was the best Do Tell we've had. I attribute that to the generous support of DPWC and the recent lovely upgrades to the Community House. It truly is a home for our community." Read more about this very entertaining evening HERE.

Dana Point Trolley Art Tour

The Dana Point Trolley Art Tour was another opportunity to showcase Community House, which was used as home base for the City's Annual Art Tour and Del Prado Art Fest. Each trolley was hosted by an Art Ambassador and a docent from the Dana Point Historical Society who provided information and insight at all the stops. The wide-ranging city tour included locations such as the Lantern Bay Park Stairs, Doheny Village Mural, Hide Drogher Sculpture, Watermen’s Plaza, and Woodruff Homes, among a total of 10 stops.

A HUGE thank you to Jody Hughes, Julie Aros and Elizabeth Estey who provided tours of the Community House and distributed our brochures to tour participants.
